Former President Jerry Rawlings of Ghana has died from issues of COVID-19.

TheCable gathered that the ex-president died at Korle-Bu Educating Hospital in Accra, capital of Ghana, on Thursday morning.

A army ruler, who later joined politics, Rawlings dominated Ghana from 1981 to 2001.

He led a army junta till 1992, after which served two phrases because the democratically elected president of Ghana.

A flight lieutenant of the Ghanaian Air Power, Rawlings first staged army coup as a younger revolutionary on Might 15, 1979, 5 weeks earlier than scheduled elections to return the nation to civilian rule.
