Enterprise proprietor Leslie Cornejo and appointed incumbent Andy Sobel take early lead in Santa Paula Metropolis Council race, based on elections outcomes.
The fist set of unofficial outcomes had been launched about 8:10 p.m. and confirmed Cornejo and Sobel within the lead. That did not change when county elections’ officers up to date outcomes about 9:50 p.m.
The most recent numbers present Cornejo with 3,285 votes, or about 31%. Sobel has 3,029 votes, or about 28%, based on county elections officers.
4 candidates are vying for the 2 council seats. The opposite two candidates, growth supervisor Caitlin Barringer and entrepreneur Margaux Bangs, are in third and fourth place. Barringer has 2,536 votes, or about 24% and Bangs has 1,876 votes or about 17%, based on unofficial outcomes.
The highest two vote-getters will win seats on the council.
Appointed incumbent Andy Sobel is trying to maintain his spot on the dais. He was appointed to the council in 2018 to fill the final two years of Martin Hernandez’s time period, which ended when Hernandez moved to Kern County to be nearer to household.
The second seat was left open when Clint Garman determined to not search re-election.
