Gerald T. “Jerry” Dorman, 86, of Altoona, handed away Wednesday at his residence after a prolonged sickness. He was born in Altoona, son of the late George A. Sr. and Alice C. (Barnes) Dorman. On

Oct. 12, 1963, he married Janet R. Ott at St. Mark’s Catholic Church.

Along with his loving spouse, he’s survived by daughters, Brenda (Tom) Beam and Ruth Irvin, and a son, Patrick (Annette) Dorman, all of Altoona; and a son, Joseph Dorman (Mary Conda) of Minneapolis, Minn.; 11 grandchildren;

11 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Jimmy Dorman in Virginia and Donny Dorman in Connecticut; and a sister, Alice O’Donald of Bellefonte. He was preceded in dying by a sister and 4 brothers.

He attended St. Mark’s grade faculty and was a 1952 graduate of Altoona Catholic Excessive Faculty. Jerry served within the U.S. Military from 1957-59 and within the Military Reserves until his honorable discharge in 1963.

Jerry had many roles all through his life together with the PRR, supervisor of a number of native grocery shops, upkeep positions at Marhofer Bakery, the Again Wall/Summit and Union Tank Automobile Co., from the place he retired.

He was a lifetime member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church. He was an avid sports activities fan, particularly Penn State soccer and the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. He may very well be discovered on sunny days catching the rays from his porch to work on his tan. He loved household gatherings and spending time together with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The household wish to thank UPMC Household Hospice, particularly Nurse Kellie and Aide Carol, for his or her compassionate care.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic and for the security of all, there will probably be a personal visitation and a funeral Mass will probably be held on the comfort of the household at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, celebrated by the Rev. George Gulash and the Rev. Ronald Osinski. Committal will probably be held at Calvary Cemetery.
