The Nation Newspaper, Mr Adeniyi Adesina has narrated how the headquarters of the newspaper was on Wednesday set ablaze by unknown armed males.
In response to Adesina, “Armed males on bikes invaded the headquarters of The Nation on Fatai Atere Approach, Matori, Lagos on Wednesday afternoon.
In a commando-like method, they kicked their means into the premises after scaring away safety males on obligation, brandishing their subtle weapons.
“They poured petrol on the frontage of the constructing and set hearth to it.
“A few of the automobiles parked inside the premises have been set ablaze, others vandalised.
“Many boys got here thereafter and swooped on the workplace, looting every thing they may lay their palms on.
“These embrace desktop computer systems, laptops, air conditioners and different workplace tools.
“On the time of the assault, Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief Mr Victor Ifijeh, was amongst these trapped inside the workplace whereas the hearth raged on.
“They have been evacuated when males of Operation Mesa safety outfit arrived. Their arrival ended the free rein of the invaders.
“It was clearly a focused assault on the free press. The Nation had been listed on Twitter and different social media platforms by sympathisers of the continuing harmful actions, as a goal of assault.
“The Nation has robustly reported the protests pretty, giving voice to the agitation of youths for a greater Nigeria.
The Administration is at a loss as to why the corporate needs to be a goal of such an unwarranted assault.”
