Again within the Nineteen Seventies, Mitch McConnell was educating a political science class on the College of Louisville. In the future, he walked to the entrance of the category and wrote on the chalkboard the three issues one wants for political success:

“Cash, cash, cash.”

This story, recounted to NPR by John Cheves, an investigative reporter with the Lexington Herald-Chief, says rather a lot about Mitch McConnell and his relationship to cash. McConnell is a grasp at elevating cash. Former senator Alan Simpson has been quoted as saying that when McConnell is fundraising, his eyes “shine like diamonds.”

“He is aware of find out how to pull all of the levers. The organ is taking part in. And he is not solely hitting the keys, he is doing the footwork,” Simpson says.

McConnell shouldn’t be ashamed of his fundraising prowess. Simply the alternative. He is pleased with it.

“We do it as a result of we would wish to win. We would wish to win. There’s nothing inherently unsuitable with desirous to win,” McConnell says.

The truth is, McConnell sees spending cash on politics as a basic First Modification proper, or, in different phrases, a type of free speech.
